Mr Richardson is a highly experienced and respected specialist orthopaedic surgeon, known for his expertise in diagnosing and treating a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions. His commitment to achieving optimal outcomes for his patients, combined with his cutting-edge approach, has made him a leader in the field of orthopaedics.
His areas of expertise include hip and knee replacement surgery and soft tissue reconstruction of the lower limb, including sporting injuries and trauma. Mr Richardson is known for utilising the latest evidence-based practices to provide tailored care for his patients. Mr Richardson takes a patient centred approach, ensuring that each individual receives personalised treatment plans aimed at achieving the best possible results.
With advanced training under renowned surgeons such as Professor Johan Bellemans in Leuven, Belgium as well as fellowship training in Australia with world renowned surgeon Mr John Bartlett and also Mr Hayden Morris, Mr Richardson has refined his skills and expertise in the latest orthopaedic techniques.
Mr Richardson has also had the privilege of working alongside Mr Neil Bergman, a collaboration that has enriched his clinical practice. Together, they are currently engaged in joint research efforts, contributing to the ongoing evolution of orthopaedic care and improving patient outcomes.
Mr Richardson has a long-standing interest in improving prosthetic design and has developed a number of innovative products, holding patents for several prosthetic technologies. His contributions to the field of prosthetics have had a significant impact on patient care, with a focus on improving the quality and longevity of joint replacements.
Currently, Mr Richardson’s latest development in hip replacement is undergoing multicentre trials across the country. This groundbreaking research demonstrates his ongoing dedication to advancing the field of orthopaedics through innovation and clinical collaboration.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Richardson holds memberships with the Australian Royal College of Surgeons, the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and the Arthroplasty Society of Australia. He is also a senior lecturer at Melbourne University, where he continues to contribute to the education and development of future orthopaedic surgeons.
A graduate of Melbourne University, Mr Richardson completed his surgical training across various Victorian tertiary hospitals, where he gained a strong foundation in orthopaedic surgery. His passion for innovation, patient care, and education ensures that he remains a trusted and forward-thinking expert in his field.
Outside of his professional life, Mr Richardson enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He has a passion for building things, playing tennis, and skiing, all of which help him maintain a balanced and fulfilling life.
